JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD emphasized that the corruption case that ensnared Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe was a legal case and not a political one.

Mahfud also mentioned the papua Special Autonomy Fund during the time of Lukas Enembe did not turn out to be anything.

"The case of Lukas Enembe once again I emphasize is a legal case, not a political case and it is on the orders of the law and the aspirations of the Papuan people," said Mahfud MD to reporters at the Unisma campus, Malang City, Friday September 23,2022.

Mahfud alluded to the large amount of funds issued by the government during Papua's Otsus. The amount reached Rp. 1000.7 trillion, which was disbursed since 2001. During the leadership of Lukas Enembe, the amount of Otsus funds managed reached Rp 500 trillion.

"The state has disbursed up to Rp 1000.7 trillion through Otsus funds. The people have been poor since the Special Autonomy Law was enacted. Since the time when Lukas Enembe took office, it was more than Rp 500 trillion (Otsus funds were disbursed), the people have remained poor," he said.

Mahfud said that the findings of Lukas Enembe's alleged corruption of Rp 1 billion were only preliminary evidence.

This was followed by the blocking of cash from Luke's account worth Rp 71 billion.

"That the alleged corruption that was handed down to Lukas Enembe who later became a suspect was not only an alleged gratuity of Rp 1 billion. Here's the record, there is a PPATK (Center for Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis) report on allegations of corruption or irregularities from the storage and management of money which amounts to hundreds of billions, hundreds of billions in 12 analysis results submitted to the KPK," said Mahfud.

Previously papua Governor, Lucas Enembe has been named as a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for alleged bribery and gratification.
