JAKARTADAILY.ID - The head of the Indonesian National Commission on Violence Against Women, Andy Yentriyani said that his party had found preliminary indications regarding the alleged sexual harassment experienced by Ferdi Sambo's wife, Putri Chandrawathi, by Brigadier J, in Magelang, Central Java.

"We found that there were initial clues that needed to be followed up by the investigators, both P and FS' statements regarding this incident," said Andy at the Komnas HAM office in Jakarta, Thursday, September 1, 2022.

As reported by pmjnews, an official website of Polda Metro Jaya, Andy Yentriyani said, based on the findings of his team, there was a reluctance from the person concerned to report the case from the start.

There are a number of factors that contribute to this, such as shame, self-blame, and fear of the perpetrator's threats, as well as the repercussions that might affect his entire life in this case.

"The position as the wife of a high-ranking police officer at the age of 50 years, having both daughters and sons is threatened, and blames herself, so she feels better off dying. This has been conveyed (by Putri) many times," explained Andy.

She emphasized that Komnas Perempuan must also rethink that the power relation between superiors and subordinates is not enough to immediately eliminate the possibility of power happening.

"It is very complex and can be influenced by the construction of gender, age, as well as other powers," he said.

In this case, the Indonesian Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) has also recommended the police follow up on alleged sexual harassment experienced by Putri Candrawathi in Magelang, Central Java.
