Banten Regional Police Uncover an Online Gambling Ring Operating Under the Guise of an Advertising Company

JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Banten Regional Police announced to the public that they have uncovered 29 gambling cases and 65 suspects in operations carried out by the General Crime Directorate of the Banten Police and the Resort Police. 

Among the online gambling operations that were uncovered was the RM online gambling syndicate that operated under the guise of an advertising company.

Banten Police spokesperson Chef Commissioner Shinto Silitonga said investigators confiscated Rp 947,585,500 in cash from 29 online gambling cases that were revealed. The most cash confiscated from online gambling RM amounted to Rp 931,000,000.

"From the disclosure of these 29 gambling cases, investigators managed to confiscate Rp. 947,585,500, the most from the online gambling syndicate RM under the guise of an advertising company, amounting to Rp 931 million," said Shinto in the release of the disclosure of online gambling cases at the Banten Police Headquarters, Thursday, August 25, 2022.

Shinto said that RM's online gambling under the guise of an advertising company turned out to be during the raid it was discovered that the company had opened 50 online slot gambling websites.

Because the amount of money managed by this gambling syndicate is quite large, Banten Police investigators will cooperate with the Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) in order to assist investigators in tracing the flow of funds.

"The Banten Police Chief asked investigators not to hesitate to apply the suspicion of money laundering by involving the role of the  PPATK to be able to trace the assets resulting from the crime with the principle of following the money and follow the assets," Shinto explained.

Previously on August 13, 2022, the Banten Police had also released the disclosure of 10 gambling cases with 24 suspects.
