JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Central Java Regional Police uncovered 18 cases of online gambling. Two of them belonged to an international online gambling network.
"From this case, there are international networks, namely (in) Purbalingga and Pemalang, both of which have servers in Thailand and Cambodia," said Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi as reported by tribratanews on Thursday, August 25, 2022.
Luthfi said that the online gambling operation that was discovered in Pemalang was even using social media influencers to promote their product.
"In Pemalang, they even use Selebgram endorsement services as a means of promotion," explained Ahmad Luthfi.
Lufti said that investigating online gambling cases is not easy because it requires strong scientific investigation because it involves IT technology.
For this reason, Luthfi continued, his party has coordinated with the National Police's Criminal Investigation and Investigation Agency to further investigate the findings of two international online gambling cases in their jurisdiction.

The Regional Police Chief added that during the period from January to July 2022, the Central Java Regional Police had succeeded in uncovering 224 gambling cases and securing 381 suspects.
"Today what was held was the result of revealing cases by the Central Java Regional Police and their ranks, in one day we have revealed 112 gambling cases with 256 suspects. This number is the result of prosecution at 35 Polres (sectoral police) in Central Java," he said.
Of the hundreds of suspects who were arrested, there were 24 who acted as dealers. The total money from gambling that was also secured reached around IDR 72 million.
In detail, the Kapolda explained the forms of gambling that were revealed, namely 18 cases of online gambling, 43 cases of lottery, and 51 cases of the gaming arena.
Meanwhile, the Serang City Police, Banten Province, managed to uncover 13 cases of online and conventional gambling with 18 suspects.
