JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian National Police reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating all forms of crime, including the practice of online gambling that was increasingly prevalent in the community.
In his direction to all ranks of the Indonesian police, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo specifically highlighted the rampant practice of gambling, both conventional and online.
"I have ordered what is called gambling, I repeat that gambling regardless of its form, whether it is land, whether it is online, everything must be dealt with and various other forms of criminal offenses must be dealt with," quoted from the report from the Polda Metro Jaya news portal, Thursday, August 18, 2022.

Sigit also emphasized that he would not tolerate his staff committing violations. In addition, the former Kabareskrim asked his personnel to take firm action against every crime.
"Starting from the circulation of narcotics, conventional or online gambling, illegal levies, illegal mining, misuse of fuel and LPG, to the partisanship of members in dealing with legal problems in the community," said Sigit.
The National Police Chief has also confirmed that he will remove his staff at the Polres, Polda, and Headquarters levels if they are proven to have committed a violation.

Online gambling is indeed booming and the police have taken firm action against the perpetrators.
Most recently, on Friday, August 12, 2022, the Special Criminal Directorate of the Polda Metro Jaya Regional Police revealed cases of online gambling that were prevalent in the community.

In these raids, at least 78 people were arrested from a shophouse that was used as an online gambling headquarters in the North Jakarta area.
Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Metro Jaya Police, Chief Commissioner Auliansyah Lubis confirmed the arrests of dozens of gamblers in the raids on Friday, early morning, August 12, 2022.
