JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Metro Jaya Police arrested Roy Suryo, charged for "hate speech," on Friday night, August 5, 2022.
The former Minister of Youth and Sports will be in detention for the next 20 days.
"Investigators have decided that starting tonight, Roy Suryo Notodiprojo, a 52-year-old man as a suspect in this hate speech case, will be detained tonight," said Metro Jaya Police spokesperson, Chief Commissioner Endra Zulpan, Friday night, August 5, 2022.
While Roy Suryo has been declared as a suspect during investigations since July 22, 2022, he has not been arrested by the police because he was ill.
However, his presence at the Mercedes-Benz SL Club (MBSL) Indonesia on Sunday, July 31, 2022, drew controversy and criticism from the public.
Roy had visited the Indonesian Witness Protection Agency (LPSK) because he claimed to have been terrorized by his upload. LPSK had sent a recommendation to the Metro Jaya Police to postpone the examination.
