JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Metro Jaya Police arrested Roy Suryo, charged for "hate speech," on Friday night, August 5, 2022.

The former Minister of Youth and Sports will be in detention for the next 20 days.

While Roy Suryo has been declared as a suspect during investigations since July 22, 2022, he has not been arrested by the police because he was ill.

However, his presence at the Mercedes-Benz SL Club (MBSL) Indonesia on Sunday, July 31, 2022, drew controversy and criticism from the public.

Roy Suryo was previously reported to Polda Metro Jaya by a Buddhist representative for the case of uploading the Borobudur Temple stupa meme on Roy Suryo's Twitter account on June 20, 2022.
