Indonesian National Police Takes Over Investigation of Alleged Sexual Harassment of Ferdy Sambo's Wife

JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police (Bareskrim Polri) takes over the investigation of the alleged sexual harassment case against the wife of Inspector General Ferdy Sambo by Brigadier Nofriansyah Yoshua Hutabarat or Brigadier J. Previously this case was handled by the Metro Jaya Police.

National Police spokesperson, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, said that the recall was in order to maintain the effectiveness and efficiency of the investigation. He also ensured that investigators from the Metro Jaya Police and South Jakarta Metro Police would still be included in the investigation team.

"Yes, they are combined to be effective and efficient in their fingerprint management, but investigator from Metro Jaya Police and South Jakarta Metro Police, is still included in the fingerprint team," said Dedi Prasetyo to reporters, Sunday, July 31, 2022.

Dedi did not explain in detail when reports of sexual harassment cases began to be handled by the Criminal Investigation Police of the National Police.

As previously reported, the South Jakarta Metro Police received a report from the wife of the Head of the National Police Propam Division, Inspector General of Police Ferdy Sambo regarding allegations of sexual harassment allegedly committed by Brigadier J.

The former South Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Budhi Herdi Susianto said at the time that the wife of the Propam Division Head had made a report on violations of Articles 335 and 289 of the Criminal Code.

"What is clear is that we received the LP or police report from the Head of the Propam Division with the articles of suspicion 335 and 289," said Budhi Herdi Susianto at a press conference, Tuesday, July 12, 2022.
