"The update on the arrests of suspects in terrorism crimes amounts to 17 people," said Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) of National Police, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, in his statement, Monday, July 25.
Ahmad explained that as many as 11 people arrested in Aceh were affiliated with the Jemaah Islamiah (JI) terrorist network. While the other three are known from the Jamaah Ansharud Daulah (JAD) network.
The eleven suspected JI network terrorists who were arrested in Aceh with the initials ES, RU, SY, MF, and FE were part of the JI group for the Education and Training Academy (ADIRA), where they are given military training.
Ahmad explained that the suspect ES had used his house as a JI group facility in weapon training in 2018 and had one PCP weapon. Meanwhile, the suspect RU is part of the Madina Foundation, which is one of the charitable foundations that JI deliberately set up as a source of JI funding.
Meanwhile, suspect MF, who is part of the FKPP field, participated in grassroots activities in the socialization of JI's vision and mission based on the strategy established by Amir JI Parawijayanto.
“Furthermore, the other JI terrorist suspects DN and MH. Both are part of the JI group in the field of da'wah (T1) and play a role in providing motivation to JI group members in carrying out the JI group's vision and mission," said Ahmad.
Suspect MH is an administrator of one of JI's charitable foundations, which is one of JI's sources of funding.
Then the suspect JU is part of the JI group in the FKPP field and was also assigned to spread JI propaganda.
