JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian National Police through the Directorate of Special Economic Crimes (Dittipideksus) of the Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating allegations of misuse of donations for the victims of the Lion Air plane crash by the Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) Foundation.
According to the official Metro Jaya Police website, National Police spokesman Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan said the funds in question were from victims of the Lion Air Boeing JT610 plane crash that occurred on October 18, 2018, with a total fund of Rp 138 billion.
"ACT Foundation received a recommendation from 68 heirs of the victims of the Lion Air Boeing JT610 plane crash to manage CSR funds of Rp 138 billion," Ramadhan explained to reporters, Saturday, July 9, 2022.
However, in the implementation of the distribution of funds, the heirs are not included in the preparation of the plan or the implementation of the use of the funds. ACT did not inform the heirs of the number of funds they received from Boeing.
As compensation for the Lion Air Boeing JT610 plane crash, Boeing provides cash and non-cash compensation funds in the form of social funds of $144,500 or Rp 2,066,350,000.
"At the time of requesting approval from Boeing from the victim's heirs, the ACT Foundation has made a format in the form of content and/or writing in the email which then asks for the format to be sent by the victim's heirs to Boeing as an approval for the management of social funds/CSR, "Said Ramadan.
It is alleged that ACT did not realize all the funds obtained from Boeing to the heirs of the victims, but for personal activities or interests.
"Some of the social funds are used to pay the salaries of the chairman, administrators, coaches, and staff of ACT and are also used to support facilities and activities or personal interests," he said.
ACT Allegedly Cut Donation Funds by 20 Percent Every Month
The National Police said there was an allegation that ACT Foundation cut the incoming donations by 10 to 20 percent. In one month, ACT Foundation can collect donations of up to Rp60 billion.
"The donations are collected as much as Rp. 60 billion every month and are immediately cut by 10-20 percent," said National Police spokesman Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan to reporters, Saturday, July 9, 2022.
According to Ramadhan, the 10-20 percent reduction in donations was made by ACT to pay the salaries of ACT administrators and all employees.
