Police Arrest 6 Holywings Cafe Workers for Using SARA Issues in Its Promotional Campaign

JAKARTADAILY.ID – There was an uproar on social media last weekend after Indonesian netizens found out about Holywing Cafe in South Jakarta promotional campaign wich offering free alcoholic beverages for person names Muhammad and Maria.

This campaign became a controversy in the community because it used the issue of SARA (Ethnic, Race, Religion, and Intergroup).

The police moved quickly to investigate this controversial case. The South Jakarta Metro Police arrested and named six employees of the Holywings cafe as suspects in this case.

"There are six people who are suspects, all of them are people who work for HW (Holywings)," said South Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Senior Commisoner, Budhi Herdi Susianto, quoted from PMJnews, an official website of Metro Jaya Police, Saturday, June 25, 2022.

Budhi added that the six suspects each had the initials EJD (27) as the Creative Director of Holywings, NDP (36) as the program designer and forwarded them to the creative team.

Then, DAD (27) who created the viral promo design, EA (22), the admin team who uploaded on social media, AAB (25), as the social officer and AAM (25) as the admin of the promo team who gave the request.

Budhi explain, one of the confiscated pieces of evidence included a screenshot of an upload from the Holywings cafe which included a promotion of free alcoholic beverages for those with the names Muhammad and Maria.

"Evidence that we confiscated included screenshots of Holywings official account posts, one machine or PC computer, one cellphone, then an external hard disk and a laptop," he said.
