JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Police arrested a suspected terrorist with the initials IA, a university student in Malang, East Java.
The Head of the Operational Assistance (Banops) of Densus 88 Anti-terror Police, Sr. Comr. Aswin Siregar appealed to the public to be more vigilant and selective in distributing donations.
"We hope that the public can be more vigilant in channeling donations to unknown organizations or groups," Aswin said according to a report published on the Polda Metro Jaya news site on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
The suspect was allegedly raising funds for ISIS by gathering donations.
Aswin does not deny that other terrorist groups, such as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and Jamaah Ansharud Daulah (JAD), are imitating the fundraising scheme similar to that of Jamaah Islamiyah (JI).

"This is currently under Densus investigation. It is possible that the JI group's method of collecting funds can be imitated by other groups," he explained.
According to Aswin, investigators are still investigating the involvement of suspect IA in certain terrorist groups. Suspect IA is known to be connected to one of the JAD members with the initials MR who was arrested some time ago.
"He is connected to one of the JAD members who has been arrested at this time," he said.
