JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas ensured that the pilgrims' funds were not used for purposes other than the need for the departure of the pilgrimage.

Previously, it was rumored that the hajj funds were being used for the construction of the new National Capital (IKN).

"There is a lot of untrue news regarding the use of funds for the pilgrims. For example, there are those who say they are helping the construction of the new National Capital (IKN). I assure you that this is fake news and this is a big slander," said the Minister of Religion in Jakarta, Tuesday, Mei 17,2022.

Minister Yaqut emphasized that the government provided subsidies for Hajj costs through the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH).

"In fact, the government through the Hajj Financial Management Agency subsidizes the cost of hajj for pilgrims," he explained.

Yaqut said, the cost of the pilgrimage, which should have been around Rp 81 million, was actually subsidized by the government through the BPKH. So, people only need to pay approximately Rp 39 million.

In addition to the hajj funds, Minister Yaqut also reminded his staff to provide information and educate the public about the Hajj requirements set by the Saudi Arabian government so that the spread of fake news or hoaxes can be minimized.
