JAKARTADAILY.ID - The corruption Eradication Commission or KPK admitted that it had received information alleging corruption committed by a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Ahmad Saroni.
The information came from the attorney of Adam Deni, whose client is currently serving a prison term on charges of defamation filed by Ahmad Saroni.
According to the Acting Spokesperson for the KPK, Ali Fikri, as of present, his team will verify the report first.
"What's next is we will verify and evaluate to find out in more detail whether the complaint submitted is a criminal act of corruption and is under the authority of the KPK to follow up,"
Ali emphasized that if the information has been checked and it is proven that the subject has committed a criminal act of corruption, the KPK will proceed with the case in accordance with the legal provisions in force in Indonesia.
"The KPK appreciates various parties who have always been persistent in supporting efforts to eradicate corruption," Ali said as quoted from Antara on Friday, April 8, 2022.
Nonetheless, Ali said his team genuinely appreciates the efforts made by Adam Deni since his report has helped KPK to eradicate corruption.
As is known, Adam Deni's attorney Herwanto visited the KPK building on April 5, 2022.
Herwanto came to the KPK office after admitting that he had received a letter containing the information on the allegation of corruption by the NasDem party politician.
"We receive a letter from our client Adam Deni who is now a defendant. Our visit here is not to report but provide information on the allegation of corruption," Herwanto said.
Herwanto said Adam Deni had intended to bring information directly to KPK before his arrest.
"[I was asked], 'Why did your client at the time before he was arrested not report the matter to the KPK?' — because he was arrested first, [that's why]. So yesterday, he [Adam Deni] said, 'My battle will be continued by [my] attorney'," Herwanto said.
Previously, Adam Deni had argued with Ahmad Saroni concerning allegations of illegal access because Adam Deni uploaded Saroni's document to his social media without his permission.
Ahmad Saroni then reported Adam Deni to the Police Criminal Investigation Unit on January 27, 2022.
