JAKARTADAILY.ID - Former Langkat Regent Terbit Rencana Perangin Angin has finally been named a suspect in the case of a human cage found at his residence.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the North Sumatran Police have also determined Terbit Rencana Perangin Angin as a suspect in the death of the occupants in the cage.

This was conveyed by the North Sumatran Police Chief, Inspector General Panca Putra Simanjuntak, on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.

He said that the determination of the suspect was carried out after the team investigated the case. "After determining the eight suspects, the team coordinated with the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) and the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK)," said Panca Putra Simanjuntak.

After collecting evidence and facts, as well as coordinating with Komnas HAM and LPSK, the team then proceeded to conduct a preliminary hearing of the case.

"Today, the investigative team has carried out a preliminary hearing of the case and determined that TRP (Terbit Rencana Perangin Angin) is the person or party who owns the place and is responsible for the place and is [therefore] designated as a suspect," said Panca Putra Simanjuntak.

For his actions, Terbit Rencana Perangin Angin was deemed to have violated Article 2, Article 7, and Article 10 of Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO).

"The results of the case against the TRP are determined as a suspect in Article 2 paragraphs 1 and 2, Article 7 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 10 of Law No. 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of TPPO and/or Article 333 paragraphs 1, 2, 3 and 4 and/or Article 170. paragraphs 1, 2, 3, and 4, and/or Article 351 paragraphs 1, 2, 3 and/or Article 353 paragraphs 1, 2, 3 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraphs 1 to 1 and 2, resulting in the death of the victim," said Panca Putra Simanjuntak.

He also emphasized that investigators worked professionally in handling the cage case at the inactive Langkat regent's house. "The investigation is still in progress to complete all existing evidence. We will resolve this case shortly," said Panca Putra Simanjuntak on Wednesday, March 6, 2022.

Previously, North Sumatra Police investigators had named eight suspects in the case of the death of the occupants of the cage belonging to the Regent of Langkat.

The eight people who have been designated as suspects have the initials HS, IS, TS, RG, JS, DP, SP, and HG.

Of the eight suspects examined by investigators, one of them is named Dewa Perangin Angin, the son of the former Langkat regent.
