JAKARTADAILY.ID - Mario Suryo Aji became the 3rd fastest during the Moto3 qualification at the MotoGP Mandalika on Saturday, 19 March 2022. The third position also marked the best in the history of motorcycle racing in Indonesia.
"Mario Suryo Aji is the first Indonesia racer to have won the front row in the Moto3 world championship," said the Astra Honda team, as quoted by Pikiran-Rakyat.com from Instagram @astrahondaracingteam.
The Astra Honda team has been Mario's preferred team since he first got into road racing, motorsport racing in particular.
Previously, Mario had won a number of national racing championship titles with the Astra Honda Racing Team during the Indonesia Racing Speed (IRS) held at the Sentul International Circuit.
Similarly, Mario made his debut in the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) with the Japanese manufacturer. For the current occasion, the hope is high for Mario to set another record in tomorrow's Indonesia's Moto3 race, as the Honda Race has expected him to be the first Indonesian racer to reach the Moto3 podium.
Before Mario, several Indonesian racers, namely Gerry Salim and Andi (Gilang) Farid Izdihar in 2021, had also tried out the Moto3 class. Gerry Salim and Andi Gilang have never had their front row in the qualification in the 250cc class racing world championship. While for Mario, this will be a first for him.
Previously, Mario has had his front row start in the Moto3 Junior class in the FIM CEV Repsol 2020 and 2021.
Don't miss out for tomorrow's Moto3 and MotoGP races which will start at 11.00 Western Indonesia Time.
