JAKARTADAILY.ID - A suspected terrorist, SU, who has been shot dead by the Special Anti-Terror Detachment Unit 88 (Densus 88), had reportedly been actively involved in an organization called the Hilal Ahmar Society Indonesia (HASI).

The Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) of the National Police Public Relations Division Brig. Gen. Pol. Ahmad Ramadhan revealed the information at a press conference in Jakarta, on March 10, 2022.

HASI was included in the list of terrorist organizations in Indonesia, based on the provision of the Central Jakarta District Court's Chief, Number 3801/Pen.Pid/2015/PN.Jkt.Pst, which was signed by the then National Police Chief, General Badrodin Haiti.

The document remains available to be accessed on the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre's (PPATK) website. Based on the information in the document, HASI has allegedly been recruiting, funding, and facilitating the journey of its followers to Syria. HASI calls its followers FTF or Foreign Terrorist Fighter.

HASI operates under the guise of a humanitarian foundation owned by Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) which operates in Lampung, Jakarta, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Solo, Surabaya and Makassar.

Densus 88 arrested SU on Jalan Bekonang, Sukoharjo, Central Java, Wednesday, March 9, 2022. The counterterrorist team decided to open fires at SU for he was fighting aggressively towards the officers.

"During his arrest, SU fought aggressively against officers by crashing his car into officers who try to stop him," said Brig. Gen. Pol. Ahmad Ramadhan at a press conference at the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta, Thursday, March 10, 2022.

Ramadhan explained that the danger posed by Sunardi's action on the lives of the officers and people around the location prompted his team to perform coercive efforts towards SU.

"A measured decisive action on [the suspect's] upper back and lower right hip," said Ramadhan, as quoted by Pikiran-Rakyat.com from Antara.

The officers then took SU to the Bhayangkara Police Hospital in Surakarta to receive medical treatment, yet he was declared dead during the evacuation process.

Ramadhan said that SU was allegedly a member of the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) terrorist network, where he once served as the solemn emir, and the deputy for da'wah and information.
