JAKARTADAILY.ID - A researcher from Paramadina University Ahmad Khoirul Umam thinks that President Jokowi’s (Joko Widodo) slow response regarding the issue of postponing the 2024 General Election indicated there is a lack of communication between PDIP and the Presidential Palace.

Umam also pointed out the two parties seem to be going in a different direction.

On one hand, PDIP as the main “governing political stakeholder” has clearly rejected the idea from the start.

Umam said there are certain elements within the inside circle of the Presidential Palace beyond the control of the ruling political party.

"As previously explained by PAN chairman Zulkifli Hasan, the group within Presidential Palace in question is an economic-political interest group led by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan (LBP) who is behind the ministerial votes," he told Pikiran-Rakyat.com on Friday, 4 March 2022.

"LBP orchestrated the chairmen of political parties, claiming he has obtained President Jokowi's direct approval," he added.

Umam said PDIP as the main political stakeholder or the ruling party in the government must correct Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan's role within the government.

He also believes that PDIP was born by the idea of reformation and at the moment, there are certain things within the government’s inner circles aiming to restore the political architecture of the New Order.

With everything are not synchronized, he thinks there is an indication of a confrontation taking place between them.

“Mega must correct LBP’s role,” Umam explained.

Pikiran-Rakyat.com has been trying to get a response from Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan's spokesperson, Jodi Mahardi. However, there is no response so far.

Reportedly, Jokowi is said to be in line with the PDIP’s stance, firmly standing with the constitution in regards to the issue of postponing the 2024 General Election spearheaded by a number of elites in the political parties.
