According to Police Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, the suspect is suspected of planning to attack the headquarters of Polsek (Sector Police) Kampar, Riau.
After the suspect was arrested and questioned, it was later known that they were a member of JAD of Padang, West Sumatera.
"EP has made preparations to [attack] the police station, but Detachment 88 officers have successfully thwarted [the effort]," Ramadhan said.
He said his team arrested EP at Kampar Police Headquarters on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at 11:48 p.m. WIB. EP was known to have already slipped through to the headquarters at the time of the arrest, hiding in one of the rooms.
"[He] was arrested while hiding in an empty room in the Kampar Police building at night," Ramadhan said.
On another occasion, the 88 Densus team was able to arrest two suspected JAD terrorists in Bantul, Yogyakarta, with initials RAU and SU.
After questioning, it was later found that both suspects were planning to attack a police station.
They have pledged allegiance to the leader of a terrorist group.
RAU has sworn alliagance to the Amir of Daulah Islamiyah Abu Bakar Al Baghdadi in 2014 as well as the Amir of Daulah Islamiyah Al Hasyim in 2019.
SU has also sworn to the Amir of Daulah Islamiyah Abu Bakar Al Baghdadi in 2016. But in 2019, he pledged himself to ISIS Abu Ibrahim Al Hashimi Al Quraishi instead.
