Jokowi Plans on Camping at Ground Zero of the New Capital

JAKARTADAILY.ID – President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said that he plans to camp at Ground Zero of the new capital in East Kalimantan.

The area is still under development, and still empty, so the President will camp while there, according to a statement from the Governor of East Kalimantan Isran Noor in the official Instagram account of the East Kalimantan Provincial Government (Kaltim) @pemprov_kaltim on Friday.

Isran revealed Joko Widodo's seriousness in moving the nation's capital from the Special Capital Region of Jakarta to Sepaku, East Kalimantan Province. As proof of the seriousness of moving the capital to Sepaku, Joko Widodo revealed his plans to camp in the new capital in the near future.

"Mr. President will spend the night, camping at point zero (IKN). The time has not yet been determined. But it won't be long," said Isran while attending the Gathering with HM Sa'bani and H. Fathul Halim at the Odah Etam Hall, earlier this week.

The plan to camp at point zero was conveyed by President Joko Widodo to Governor Isran Noor in a brief meeting at the VIP Room of Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan Airport after the inauguration of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board at the Balikpapan Sport Center and Convention Dome Balikpapan, last Monday.

"We only met three people. Mr. President, Minister of State Secretary, and I," said Isran.

Isran Noor explained that this camping trip would also be used by the President to meet traditional leaders in East Kalimantan. Starting from the traditional figures of Kutai, Dayak, Paser, Berau, Banjar, Bugis, and Javanese. At that time, cultural arts from various ethnic groups in East Kalimantan will also be displayed. In addition, there will also be a joint prayer for the smooth transfer of the capital of the archipelago from Jakarta to Sepaku.

In order to prepare the plan, Governor Isran Noor asked the Regional Secretary of the East Kalimantan Provincial Government to immediately coordinate with the State Palace in Jakarta to prepare the plan.

Governor Isran has received certainty that for the plan, the entire process of organizing the event will be financed by the State Secretariat. Meanwhile, the location arrangement will be determined by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), the Indonesian National Army (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri).
