JAKARTADAILY.ID - Edy Mulyadi is indicted with 10 years of imprisonment after being named a suspect in a hate speech case toward a certain ethnicity, religion, race, or intergroup (known locally as SARA).
The head of the Public Information Bureau (Kepala Biro Penerangan Masyarakat or Karopenmas) of the National Police's Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, said that Edy had been charged with several laws.
Those laws include Article 45 paragraph 2, in conjunction with Article 28 paragraph 2 of the Law on Electronic Transaction (ITE Law), as well as Article 14 paragraph 1, and paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946 on Penal Code and Article 156 of the Civil Code.
"The indictment is 10 years," said Ramadhan, as reported by Pikiran Rakyat on Monday (January 31, 2022).
In this case, Edy has been named a suspect after being investigated by investigators as a witness.
In the inspection, Ramadhan said he had checked out 55 total witnesses, consisting of 37 witnesses and 18 experts.
From these results, investigators concluded that Edy was named a suspect and made arrests.

"Detention will be carried out from today until the next 20 days at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police," he said.
Ramadhan indicated that the detention was necessary because the investigator's decision was based on subjective and objective criteria.
The aforementioned subjective basis includes fleeing, eliminating evidence, and repeating the act.
"Meanwhile, the objective reason for the threat determined by the suspect is more than 5 years," Ramadhan said.
