JAKARTADAILY.ID - The National Police has named Edy Mulyadi as a suspect in a hate speech toward a certain ethnicity, religion, race, or intergroup (SARA).
The head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the National Police's Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, said that the suspect was determined after examining Edy as a witness.
"Afterward, investigators proceed with the reconstruction of the case. The result from the investigator's reconstruction determined Edy's status as a witness to a suspect," he said, as reported by Pikiran Rakyat on Monday (January 31, 2022).
In the inspection, Ramadhan said he had checked out 55 total witnesses, consisting of 37 witnesses and 18 experts.
From these results, investigators concluded that Edy was the suspect and made the arrest.
"Detention will be carried out from today until the next 20 days at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police," he said.
For his actions, Edy was indicted by multiple laws, namely Article 45 paragraph 2, in conjunction with Article 28 paragraph 2 of the Law on Electronic Transaction.
Also, Article 14 paragraph 1 and paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946 on Penal Code and Article 156 of the Civil Code.
"The indictment is 10 years," Ramadhan said.
