JAKARTADAILY.ID - GBI Cinere Bellevue Chapel in Cinere, Depok, West Java was visited by a group of residents who protested the existence of the Chapel. This incident went viral on social media.
After the incident, the Depok Metro Police ensured that the situation and conditions at the GBI Cinere Bellevue Chapel were safe and conducive.
Depok Metro Police Chief, Police Senior Commissioner Ahmad Fuady said that his party guaranteed the safety of worshipers. The police have taken a number of security measures.
"The situation at the location is safe and conducive. Cinere Police personnel led by the Chief of Police have taken security measures if there are worship activities at the Chapel," said Ahamad Fuady quoted from pmjnews on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
Previously, the community had protested and came to the chapel after dawn prayers. However, the police chief denied that there was an attack and the residents then dispersed.
"The residents went there after attending the dawn recitation at the mosque near the location to express their rejection of the chapel, after which they dispersed," he said.
Fuady added that the reason the residents protested the existence of the chapel was because there was no permit from the Depok City Government. He said the congregation had just moved the chapel to a shop two months ago.

As Reported by pikran-rakyat.com, according to information, residents rejected the existence of the Chapel, because the Gandul Cinere area itself had no church, so the Chapel was not needed.
This was also explained by Didi, the pastor of the GBI Cinere Chapel.
"Because historically Gandul has never had a church. I said chapel, and he said 'It's the same as a place of worship' So what, there is no problem," Didi said at the location, on Saturday, September 16, 2023. (***)
