JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) today scheduled the questioning of the chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar familiarly called Cak Imin.

Cak Imin, who is also the vice presidential candidate from Anis Baswedan's Coalition of Change, failed to meet KPK's summons.

Originally, Cak Imin was to be examined as a witness in the investigation of corruption in the procurement of a protection system for Indonesian Migrant Workers (TKI).

Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said that his office had received a letter confirming Cak Imin's absence, who was unable to attend because he was attending other activities.

"The information we have obtained from KPK investigators is that they have received a confirmation letter from this witness who cannot attend because of another agenda in another place and asked for time to be examined as a witness on Thursday, September 7," Ali told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

The agenda for Cak Imin's examination will be carried out next week. However, Ali did not explicitly disclose what day exactly Cak Imin was examined.

"The investigating team will certainly reschedule the summoning of this witness later next week. So it is not on Thursday, September 7 as requested by the witness, but the investigators have scheduled it for next week," said Ali.

The alleged corruption case at the Ministry of Manpower occurred in 2012 at the Ministry of Labor (Kemnaker), with Cak Imin as Minister of Manpower for the 2009-2014 period.

Head of the KPK News Division Ali Fikri said the investigation was carried out with careful preparation while emphasizing that there was no political motive in the investigation.

In fact, the search at the Ministry of Manpower office was carried out long before Cak Imin became a vice presidential candidate carried by the Coalition for Change for Unity (KPP).

"We emphasize that this has nothing to do with the political processes in question," Ali was quoted by Pikiran-rakyat, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
