'Sayap-Sayap Patah' Movie Garners More Than 1 Million Viewers 11 Days After Its Release

JAKARTADAILY.ID – "Sayap-Sayap Patah" ("Broken Wings") starring Nicholas Saputra and Ariel Tatum managed to break the 1 million viewer mark on its 11th day in Indonesian theaters since its release on August 18, 2022.

Sayap-Sayap Patah is a film produced by Maxima Pictures and directed by Rudi Soedjarwo. This 1 hour 49 minute film was produced by Denny Siregar.

This movie is taken from a true story that tells about a riot in the National Police's Mobile Brigade (Mako Brimob) in Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java in May 2018, in which 155 convicts of terrorism held some police members for 39 hours.

Besides Ariel Tatum and Nicholas Saputra, this film is also enlivened by a row of other famous actors and actresses. Among them are Poppy Sovia, Khiva Iskak, Ariyo Wahab, Dewi Irawan, Nugie Nugroho, Gibran Marten, to the legendary rap singer Iwa K.

"Sayap-Sayap Patah" is a romantic story about a policeman who is waiting for the birth of his child.

This film tells about the life of a young police officer named Adjie, a member of Densus 88 with his wife Nani, and their experiences as a young family.

Adjie's who works as a police officer makes him rarely at home, so Nani is always worried.

One time, that happiness was shattered when a prison break tragedy occurred which resulted in a terrible riot. Adjie became one of the victims of being held hostage by the prisoner.

Behind the romance of the film Sayap-Sayap Patah, there is a tragic story from the 2018 Brimob Mako Riot.

On 8 May 2018, the Mobile Brigade Headquarters was attacked by terrorist prisoners at night. The riot started with an argument between prisoners and officers. The riot was triggered by the delivery of food from the family.

This required the officers to check the food, but the inmates did not accept it and the riot ensued.
