JAKARTADAILY.ID – Disney and Marvel Studios’ superhero sequel "Thor: Love and Thunder" lit up the cinemas with the best opening among all four Thor films, earning $143M domestically and earning $159M overseas, for a $302M global total.
Thor: Love and Thunder was a success at the box office, earning US$143 million in the first weekend.
The movie's weekend success beat its own record Thor: Ragnarok (2017) which reached US$122.7 million, Thor (2011) with US$65.7 million, and Thor Dark World (2013) which reached US$85.7 million.
Thor 4's weekend earnings is said to be the third-biggest Hollywood weekend debut during the pandemic era, and the second-best in 2022 after Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness.

Critics were unfazed however, with the latest Thor installment earning a 68 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and a "B+" for the movie. By comparison, Ragnarok has a 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and an "A-" for the movie.

Thor: Ragnarok's directorTaika Waititi returned to direct "Love and Thunder," in which Hemsworth's Norse god meets his former lover Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who now wields Mjollnir and plays the mighty Thor.
