JAKARTADAILY.ID - With Oscar Isaac being in the spotlight, or should we say moonlight for his role in the Disney+ series "Moon Knight," it would be interesting to look back into his filmography and his pivotal role in the 2013 movie "Inside Llewyn Davis."
In the black comedy musical drama, Oscar plays the titular Llewyn Davis, a struggling musician from Greenwich Village, New York City, maintaining his artistic independence in an industry hungry for commercial success.
Inside Llewyn Davis was directed by the Coen brothers, Joel and Ethan Coen, and premiered at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival on May 19, 2013, where it won the Grand Prix. The film was theatrically released in France on November 6, 2013, and in the United Kingdom on January 24, 2014, by StudioCanal.
With the characteristic, meticulous attention to detail, the Coens immerses us in 60's New York and focus on the folk scene. It is an easy world to step into as it is presented to us with so much conviction and beauty.

This is one of the Coens' best-looking films, shot with a deep color palette, emulating the coldness of the season and the predicament of their protagonist to perfection.
They craft tales that shy the beaten path, fill them with semi-human characters, and embrace the style they are working in wholeheartedly.
"I mean, there were a number of reasons we showed that film. One was just a practical reason, which was we were shooting for the first time with Bruno Delbonnel," said the Coen Brothers when asked why they decided to shoot the movie on film, quoted from Anne Mavity "Coen Brothers: Inside Llewyn Davis Interview" on Youtube.
The supporting cast includes Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, F. Murray Abraham, Justin Timberlake, and Adam Driver.
Though Davis is a fictional character, the story was partly inspired by folk singer Dave Van Ronk's autobiography. (Nadira Rahmadini)
