JAKARTADAILY.ID – The glam rock era in the late '80s and '90s presented a line of legendary bands, one of which was Dream Theater, a progressive rock band from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
Of the many hits belonging to Dream Theater, there is one single entitled "Another Day" which was released in their 1992 album Images and Words. It was released as the album's second and final single in 1993.
Another Day was written by guitarist John Petrucci. The song, which was released on the album “Images and worlds," is about John Petrucci's father, Petrucci Senior, who was battling cancer.
"It was a song expressing that feeling - he was way too young when he got sick, he died too young," Petrucci quoted from Songfacts.com.
"That was just expressing, 'don't go yet. There's more life ahead of you, hopefully.' It's a son wanting his dad to stick around longer." he added.

Another Day managed to reach position 22 on the US Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks, in 1992.
Petrucci wrote one more song "Take Away My Pain," after his father died. This song is on the 1997 album Falling Into Infinity.
In addition to songs written by John Petrucci, other Dream Theater personnel also wrote songs related to the death of their parents. Drummer Mike Portnoy wrote about his mother's death in the song "A Change Of Seasons" (1995), and about his father's passing in "Honor Thy Father" (2003).
This song has been covered by many singers and musicians, one of which is a cover version by a fingerstyle guitarist from Indonesia, Alip ba ta, whose video has gone viral on the YouTube channel and has been watched 2.4 million times.
