This result makes the champions of 2014 face the very realistic prospect of a second straight exit at the Word Cup group stage.
Previously, the Saudi Arabian national team won against Argentina by 2-1 in a comeback victory at Lusail Stadium on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.
Saudi Arabia's victory against Argentina is one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history according to Gracenote. Argentina has been unbeaten in their previous 36 games since 2019 and nearly equaled Italy's 37-win streak.
