Liz Truss's policies have been mercilessly criticized by her own party, the Conservative Party, as well as her voters, for increasing the cost of living. The Conservative Party, which holds a parliamentary majority, will elect a new leader for Britain on October 28, 2022.

Names that have emerged include former finance minister Rishi Sunak against Penny Mordaunt, and the possible return of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was ousted in July when his ministers resigned and forced himself into power.

Truss admits she has lost the confidence of her party and will step down next week.

This recorded Truss as the shortest British PM in history.

In opinion polls, Liz Truss was asked by a majority of Conservative Party members to resign immediately, even though Liz Truss had only replaced PM Boris Johnson for six weeks.

Truss has previously refused to step down and made her stance clear when debating for the first time in the House of Commons with the opposing Labor Party since the UK Treasury changed last week.
