President Jokowi Meets with French President Emmanuel Macron to Discuss Ukraine and Indonesia's G20 Presidency

JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo held a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Elmau, Germany on Monday, June 27, 2022.

The two leaders discussed the situation in Ukraine as well as Indonesia's G20 Presidency. President Jokowi expressed his appreciation for President Macron's efforts to bring about peace in Ukraine.

"We all understand the situation is very complex. However, we need to continue to strive for a peaceful solution. If the war continues, the current food crisis will get worse," said President Jokowi as quoted from the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat website, Tuesday, 27 June 2022.

President Jokowi also expressed his appreciation for France's support for Indonesia's G20 Presidency.

President Macron reiterated his strong support for the Indonesian presidency and is confident that the G20 will be successful and can result in concrete cooperation.

Finally, President Jokowi conveyed the efforts to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and France, both in the economic sector as well as in the defense and strategic industries.

Also accompanying President Jokowi in bilateral meetings with President Macron were Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Indonesian Ambassador to Germany Arif Havas Oegroseno.
