JAKARTADAILY.ID - Youtube TV has restored access to networks under Disney after an interruption of service over the weekend due to a disagreement between the two companies, as reported by the Associated Press on Sunday (December 19, 2021).
On December 17, Youtube TV announced that the two companies were unable to reach a deal, and all Disney-owned networks would be unavailable. The networks in question were ESPCN, FX, National Geographic, and local ABC stations.
Youtube's key demand for a "most favored customer" clause, which would guarantee to obtain the best possible price from Disney, was reportedly one of the sticking points in the dispute.
After a long dialogue, the two companies finally came to an agreement, and the service for the aforementioned networks was restored. The monthly price for Youtube TV remained at $64.99, but impacted customers would receive a one-time $15 discount.
"We're happy to announce that we've reached a deal with Disney and have already started to restore access to channels like ESPN and FX," Youtube TV wrote on its Twitter handle.
"As always, we thank you for your membership and keep a lookout for an email with more details from us."
Response on Twitter was divided. While some were simply happy with the channels' return, some others complained about the two days where they were made unavailable. Some users also said they switched to another service provider, Hulu, which is majorly owned by Disney, and FuboTV during the period.
To date, Disney has not commented about the new deal it and Youtube was able to reach.
