Coordinating Minister Muhadjir Effendy Leads a Delegation of Indonesian Humanitarian Aid to Turkiye

JAKARTADAILY.ID - Humanitarian aid from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia for the victims of the Turkish earthquake arrived at Adana Şakirpaşa Airport, Turkey, on Wednesday, 22 February 2023, at exactly 00.00 local time.

The Indonesian delegation was led by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy who was sent by President Joko Widodo to represent the Government of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Alhamdulillah, today at 12 o'clock, we came from Indonesia, an Indonesian delegation, accompanied by the Head of BNPB, I represented the Indonesian government, sent by Mr. President Jokowi to visit and at the same time bring aid for the third phase of the victims of the natural disaster in Turkey," said the Coordinating Minister PMK in his statement to the media crew at Adana Airport.

On this occasion, the Coordinating Minister for PMK on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia expressed his deep condolences to the government and people of Turkey, especially those who were victims of the recent earthquake.

The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture emphasized that the Indonesian government would continue to provide support in various forms, both personnel, and logistics.

"We also continue to provide support, provide assistance, both in the form of personnel, those who have worked here, be it a search and rescue team, a team for searching and finding victims, also a medical team, a medical emergency team, a team of medical personnel who handle emergencies. We will also send various kinds of assistance, both in the form of logistics and equipment needed by the victims," he explained.

Furthermore, the Coordinating Minister for PMK said that the Indonesian and Turkish governments were also discussing the next steps after the disaster emergency period ended. According to him, Indonesia will help Turkey during the post-earthquake rehabilitation and reconstruction.

"As we are used to dealing with in Indonesia, after the disaster emergency phase there will be a rehabilitation and reconstruction stage, and it is possible that we will also be involved in the later stages of rehabilitation and reconstruction and we will pass on our experience in handling the rehabilitation and reconstruction stages in Indonesia. ," he said.

The Coordinating Minister for PMK also prayed that all victims would be found safely soon. Apart from that, he also hopes that all the people and the government of Turkey can get back up soon.

"We also pray that Turkey, all the Turkish people, and the Turkish government can soon rise again and become stronger than before," he said.

Meanwhile, a Member of the Turkish Foreign Policy Advisory Council, Murat Salim Esenli, representing the Turkish government welcomed the humanitarian assistance and the arrival of representatives from the Indonesian government. According to him, this proves the strong ties between the two countries
