Indonesian Ministry of Tourism Holds Short Fiction and Documentary Film Festival to Support Creative Economy

JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian Ministry of Tourism is once again holding the Monthly Film Festival for short fiction and documentary films as an effort to revive the creativity of regional filmmakers on the rise throughout Indonesia.

During the 10 months of selection for the 2022 Monthly Film Festival, it received a positive response and high enthusiasm from Indonesia's creative youth has resulted in 2 Selected Films each month.

"This is good news for filmmakers and creative actors in the film subsector. Through this program, the tourism sector and the creative economy can be increasingly e creating greater space and opportunities for the revival of the local economy," said Minister of Tourism Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno in a press release, Tuesday, January 10, 2022.

As is known, throughout the series of activities of the Monthly Film Festival, 1,000 film communities have participated, and 895 short films have been registered which are estimated to have moved and involved as many as 26,850 creative workers.

On this occasion, Sandiaga also announced 6 winners for the 2022 Monthly Film Festival. Starting from the Film Gemintang, the work of Gresik Movie from East Java won the Best Story Idea award for the 2022 Monthly Film Festival.

Then, "Memorabilia," by Jogja Film Academy from DI Yogyakarta won the Best Visual award at the 2022 Monthly Film Festival, and "Story at the Wrong Time," by Vanasea Films from West Java won the Best Audio award at the 2022 Monthly Film Festival.

For a special award, the Ministry of Tourism gave the 2022 Monthly Film Festival 2022 Filmmakers For their persistence and enthusiasm in continuously registering their works and actively participating, in IWI MARAHENA, a young filmmaker from Masohi City, Central Maluku.

"I hope that through this activity, Indonesian filmmakers, regional film communities, and all Indonesian film activists can work hand in hand, work, collaborate to produce works and contribute to building economic growth in Indonesia," said Sandiaga Uno.
