I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Recorded 2,176,004 Foreigners Arriving in Bali in 2022

JAKARTADAILY.ID – Foreign tourist visits to Bali via air transportation in 2022 increased by more than 60 thousand times compared to 2021.

Head of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Immigration Office, Sugito, said that throughout 2022, there were 2,176,004 foreigners arriving at Bali, while in 2021 only 34 people were recorded arriving by plane to Bali.

"The number of foreign arrivals passing through Ngurah Rai Airport increased by 6,399,911.76 percent or more than 60,000 times compared to 2021," Sugito said Tuesday, December 3, 2022.

"The increase in numbers is in line with immigration policies issued by the government in an effort to restore the national economy to support the tourism sector," he added. 

Sugito explained that the most foreigners came from Australia with a total of 626,783 people, India 184,702 people, Singapore 131,470 people, Britain 130,312 people, and the United States with 111,495 people.

Throughout 2022, there were also 739,303 foreigners who entered the country using visa-on-arrival (VOA) or electronic VOA (e-VOA) services.

Even so, the number of foreigners arriving on the Island of the Gods in 2022 has not reached as many numbers as in 2019 or the period before the Covid-19 pandemic, which was recorded at 6,206,884 people.
