JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Ministry of Tourism is targeting as to have as many as 2,300 tourism workers in Lombok (NTB) to be certified for the tourism indusry by the end of 2022.
To meet this target, the Ministry of Tourism held a program called "Certification of Competency of Tourism Human Resources in the Field of Tourism Guidance" in collaboration with LSP (Professional Certification Institute) Cakra Wisata Indonesia, various industries and associations, and the Regional Government of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
"That way, (the workforce) will be able to meet the needs of industry and the business world in the tourism sector and the creative economy that requires a competent and competitive workforce," said Minister of Tourism Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno while attending the "Certification of Competence of Tourism Human Resources in the Field of Tourism Guidance" at Taliwang Hj. Moerad Mataram, Saturday, November 12, 2022.

The tourism HR competency certification activity was held in 6 priority tourism destinations, namely Lake Toba (North Sumatra), Wakatobi (North Sulawesi), Labuan Bajo (East Nusa Tenggara), Lombok (West Nusa Tengfara), Borobudur-Yogyakarta-Prambanan (Yogya and Central Java), and Bromo-Tengger-Semeru (East Java).
The target is that by the end of 2022, as many as 18,000 tourism workers can be certified and by 2023, the number of workers will increase to 27 thousand.
"And for Lombok in 2022, the certification target is to target 2,700 tourism workers and by 2023, there will be 3,900 tourism workers.
Today, 2,000 tourism workers have been certified for hotels, restaurants, tour guides, travel agencies and spas," said Sandiaga Uno in a press release.
The Minister of Tourism also encourages this activity to continue so that the target for certification of tourism worker competence this year, especially in Lombok, can be achieved.
"The target as of today is 74 percent, there are 26 percent more that must be pursued. This certification is part of the recovery, increasing the productivity of the tourism sector, so that our human resources are competitive.
We have a tough task, namely to absorb more jobs and our target is to create 1.1 million new jobs in 2022 and 4.44 new quality jobs in 2024," said Sandiaga.
"Hopefully this tourism HR competency certification activity can be part of the momentum of national economic recovery efforts so that we recover faster and rise stronger," continued Sandiaga.
