Indonesian Ministry of Public Works Prepares Construction on Four Entry Points to Bromo Tengger Semeru

JAKARTADAILY.ID – Through the East Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW), the Directorate General of Human Settlements, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) is preparing the construction of 4 tourist gates equipped with rest areas as entry points to Bromo-Tengger-Semeru.

The four gates and the rest area built are in Ngadiwono Village, Tosari District as the entrance from the Pasuruan Regency, and the gate in Sukapura Village as the entrance from the Probolinggo Regency.

Then, the gate in Wringinanom Village, Poncokusumo District is the entrance from Malang Regency and the gate in Senduro Village is the entrance from Lumajang Regency.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said infrastructure development at each National Strategic Tourist Destination (KSPN) is planned in an integrated manner, both in terms of the regional arrangement, roads, supply of raw and clean water, waste management, sanitation, and improvement of population housing through a master plan for infrastructure development.

"For tourism, the infrastructure must first be repaired, then amenities and events, then a massive promotion. If this is not ready, tourists will come once and will not come back again. That is what we have to take care of properly," said Minister Basuki on Monday, July 11, 2022.

The gate in Senduro Village is included in the priority program of the Directorate General of Human Settlements Phase II with a budget requirement of IDR 68.18 billion.

The progress of the work is currently complete with Detail Engineering Design (DED) and the announcement stage of the construction auction.

The Gate in Senduro Village was built on an area of ​​1.7 hectares belonging to the Lumajang Regency Government with a total building area of ​​14,327 m2.

In addition to the gate building, the Ministry of PUPR has built a rest area equipped with a food court, workshop, hall, souvenir center, management office, public toilets, open stage, artificial artwork, green open space, plaza, and a waste management area.

The Ministry of PUPR has also built a bus parking area of ​​1,509 m2, a car park of 1,212 m2, and a motorbike parking area of ​​216 m2. At that location, an Agropolitan Market was also built with a building area of ​​176.64 m2 to accommodate MSMEs in the surrounding area.

Meanwhile, the other three gates in Ngadiwono Village, Pasuruan Regency, Sukapura Village, Probolinggo Regency, and Wringinanom Village, Malang Regency are still in the DED preparation stage.
