JAKARTADAILY.ID – After gaining momentum from the success of the MotoGP 2022 in Mandalika, Lombok, and more recently the MXGP 2022, in Samota, Sumbawa Besar, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said that now is a great time to establish West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) as a world-class sports tourism destination.

The MXGP 2022 is a motocross racing event that was held on June 24-26, 2022, attended by 33 motocross racers from various countries. Previously, the MXGP has been held in Palembang, South Sumatra, and Semarang, Central Java in 2019.

"(The MXGP 2022) is an effort to raise this super-priority destination in NTB into a world-class destination for sports tourism, especially motorsport," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga when visiting MXGP 2022 at the Samota  Motocross Circuit, Sunday, June 26, 2022.

Sandiaga said NTB has become the location of a number of international motorcycle racing events, such as the 2022 MotoGP and the 2021 World Superbike which was held in Lombok.

Sandiaga sees this as proof that NTB has received international attention, especially in the world of motorsport. In addition, the 2022 MXGP is also expected to be part of the national economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I think this is right for the revival of opening up business opportunities and employment opportunities," he said.
