MotoGP Riders Given 3 Days Test and Practice on the Mandalika Circuit and Familiarize Themselves

The MotoGP world championship motorcycle racers will be given 3 days or 11-13 February 2022 to get to know the Mandalika circuit, Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, Indonesia. The introduction of the circuit, which is entering the MotoGP series for the first time, will be given to as many as 24 riders in the MotoGP Official Test session which is scheduled to start at 10.00 – 17.45 Central Indonesian Time (WITA). This test session will be followed by a practice session by the drivers for 15 minutes until 18.00 WITA.

JAKARTADAILY.ID – Racers will be given three days over this weekend to familiarize themselves with the Mandalika Circuit at the upcoming MotoGP 2022 which will be held in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara this March.

This year's race will be the first time the Mandalika Circuit is included in the MotoGP, as such 24 racers will be attending an official test session from 10.00 a.m. Central Indonesian Time until 17.45. After the test session, there is a 15-minute practice session up until 18.00.

The President Director of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) Priandhi Satria said that Pertamina Mandalika Circuit is a new circuit that is not yet known by MotoGP racers. So this official test is very important for the racers and team crews to get to know the characteristics of this circuit before the race session at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in March.

"We hope that all racers and team crews maximize this official test and get the best experience with our circuit," he said in a press release published by the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) on Tuesday.

ITDC is a state-owned enterprise that manages Special Economic Zones (KEK Mandalika) or The Mandalika together with MGPA as part of the ITDC Group. ITDC confirmed that there would be 24 riders coming to Mandalika. This assurance was obtained from the International Road Racing Team Association (IRTA).

Among the 24 riders who are confirmed to be present, there are a number of names of the best MotoGP racers such as 8-time World Champion Marc Marquez from the Repsol Honda Team, 2021 MotoGP Champion Fabio Quartararo from Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP, Francesco Bagnaia, and Jack Miller from the Ducati Lenovo Team, Joan Mir from Team Suzuki Ecstar, johan zarco from Pramac Racing, to Brad Binder from Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. These 7 riders are the drivers with the highest 7 points during the 2021 MotoGP season.

After Sepang, the MotoGP Official Test will indeed be held at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit on 11-13 February 2022. As many as 24 riders from 12 MotoGP racing teams are confirmed to be ready to appear at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit. (*)
