JAKARTADAILY.ID – With the MotoGP 2022 only two months away Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo stressed that the Mandalika Circuit on the island of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara Province is ready to host the prestigious high-speed motorcycle racing competition in the world.
The Indonesian president made this statement after visiting Lombok Island to check the readiness of the Mandalika Circuit and the surrounding area in welcoming the 2022 MotoGP event on Thursday, posting the update on his official Instagram account @jokowi.
"I returned to visit the Mandalika area, Lombok, NTB today. I want to review a number of airport facilities that will be used by MotoGP 2022 participants and spectators, the readiness of the bypass route to the Mandalika SEZ, and other facilities at the Mandalika SEZ," he said when starting the trip on Thursday morning.
At the end of his visit, Jokowi noted several conclusions. First, the bypass road connecting Lombok Zainuddin Abdul Majid International Airport to the Mandalika Circuit location in the Mandalika SEZ is ready for use. The areas on the left and right of the Bypass road have been beautified. Roads, facilities, and landscapes, such as the Bypass Roundabout, Jokowi Hill, Sunggu Roundabout, greening in the median road to the slow lane, have changed to welcome the MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit.
"I saw firsthand and enjoyed the change when I tested the Bypass on a motorcycle. With all these preparations, we will welcome guests who come from all over the world when MotoGP is held and also other events that will be held at Mandalika," he said.
Second, the homework that needs to be done is to make the 2022 MotoGP world motorcycle racing event contribute to the economy and the welfare of the people around the Mandalika Circuit. This big event that brings in riders, spectators, and tourists from all over the world must have an economic impact on the surrounding residents.
