JAKARTADAILY.ID - Publicly listed state construction company PT Waskita Karya signed a memorandum of understanding with PT BIBU Panji Sakti to develop an international airport and its supporting infrastructure in the northern area of Bali province.
The company said in a press statement that the MoU was signed on Thursday in Jakarta by Waskita Karya President Director Destiawan Soewardjono and BIBU Panji Sakti President Director Erwanto Adiatmoko Hariwibowo.
"We hope the MoU signing will strengthen our synergy to develop the international airport in the northern part of Bali, which will further push up the tourism industry in Bali and generate higher growth of national and local economies," said Destiawan Soewardjono.
He said that BIBU is the main initiator of the development of the new airport in North Bali, which is located on the coastal area of Kubutambahan in Buleleng regency, the northern part of Bali province.
According to him, based on the agreement the two companies will construct a runway, taxiway, apron, passenger terminal, cargo, parking areas, and administration buildings of the new international airport.
Their other supporting works will also include maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and access infrastructures, such as roads and others.
Erwanto said that currently, the southern part of Bali is much more developed than that of its northern part. "Hopefully, by developing the new international airport in North Bali, we will balance the economic development between southern part and northern part of Bali island," he said. (*)
