JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) continues to strive to make Sarawak the preferred tourism destination for Indonesian travelers. This effort was enhanced through STB's participation in a promotional tour to Jakarta, Balikpapan, and Banjarmasin organized by the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC), Tourism Malaysia Jakarta, and the Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA and ASITINDO).

(TYT) Dato' Syed Md Hasrin Tengku Hussin, Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia, said, "This tour or roadshow has successfully strengthened the relationship between these two iconic cities, and we openly invite travelers to explore the natural beauty of Sarawak, a land rich in cultural heritage and friendly hospitality."

"The direct promotion between Jakarta, Balikpapan, Banjarmasin, and Sarawak is highly relevant in encouraging Indonesian tourists to come and visit Sarawak," said Sarawak Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Yusfida Khalid.

"In addition, the direct connectivity available through AirAsia makes it easier for travelers from Indonesia to travel to Sarawak, whether for health purposes, vacation, recreation, or to shop for Sarawak handicrafts in conjunction with tourism initiatives in the region," Yusfida explained.

Currently, travelers from Indonesia can enjoy direct flights from Jakarta to Kuching via Air Asia every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Sarawak recorded rapid growth in arrivals from Indonesia in the first half of 2023, with more than 200,000 arrivals from various entry points in the period January to June 2023, compared to only 46,000 arrivals in the same period the previous year.
