JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Indonesian government has ended all restrictions on community activities (PPKM) regarding Covid-19 which has been in effect since 2020.
Following this policy, the Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin revealed, his party still recommends the use of masks. However, the Budi was returned to public awareness.
"So like this, we recommend to wearing masks in closed and narrow spaces, in crowds, it's best to use them. But once again it is up to the community. If people feel they are healthy, in the open air like this there's no need, no need," said Minister of Health Budi at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, Monday, December 2, 2023.

According to Budi, the most important point in changing the status of a pandemic to endemic lies in public awareness. On the other hand, government intervention will also continue to be reduced.
"Because yes, that was the strategy from pandemic to endemic, where intervention from the government was reduced, but there was increased community participation. So there is public awareness to measure where it is needed, we need to use it," he said.
Budi gave an example, he continued to wear a mask during meetings with President Jokowi. However, he also admitted to removing the mask when he was in an open space.

"So wear a mask. If I see something like this, I don't use it (open space). But if earlier it was during a closed meeting and there was the President, we have to have a president, we use it," he said.
