Indonesian National Police Issue Warrants for Two Suspects in Acute Kidney Failure Case

JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Directorate of Specific Crimes (Dittipidter) of the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police named the Director of CV Samudera Chemical (CV SC) with the initials AR as a new suspect in the acute kidney failure cases which caused the deaths of hundreds of children.

Previously, the Presiden Director of CV SC with the initials E was named a suspect. CV SC allegedly supplied lethal amounts of ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol, which were then used to produce the medicinal syrup that caused acute kidney failure among children.

"Two people have been named as perpetrators, namely E as the Main Director of CV SC and AR as the Director of CV SC," said the Head of Public Information of the National Police Public Relations Division Police Grand Commissioner, Nurul Azizah in his statement quoted from pmjnews, Wednesday 28 December 2022.

Nurul said the whereabouts of the two new suspects were unknown. Because of this, the National Police has placed both of them on the wanted list (DPO).

"Therefore, investigators published a wanted list for the two perpetrators with numbers B/12163/XI/2022/Bareskrim on November 25, 2022, on behalf of E and B/16164/XI/2022/Bareskrim on November 25, 2022, on behalf of AR," explained Nurul.

Nurul further explained, until now his party had examined six additional witnesses in the case. But Nurul did not specify the role of their involvement.

"Then summoned and conducted BAP against six witnesses, including T, A, H, W, DS, and ML," he said.

As information, so far there have been 6 suspects named in this case, namely 2 individual suspects and 4 corporate suspects.

The four corporate suspects are two corporations determined by Bareskrim Polri, namely PT Afi Farma Pharmaceutical Industries and CV Chemical Industries, as well as two other corporate suspects determined by BPOM (Food and Drug Examination Agency), namely PT Yarindo Farmatama and PT Universal Pharmaceutical Industries.
