JAKARTADAILY.ID – PT. Natura Nuswantara Nirmala (Nucleus Farma) won the innovation competition at Taiwan Innotech Expo 2022, a leading invention exhibition and competition in Asia.
At the TIE event which was held on October 13-15, 2022, Nucleus Farma won a silver medal for the inventor category: Indonesian Invention and Innovation Promotion Association and inventions with the research title Onodiab Capsules Innovation Product: Indonesian Traditional Medicine as Antidiabetic.
The Nucleus team was led by Prof. Syamsudin, with team members, namely Sucipto Kokadir, Edward Basilianus, and Greesty F Swandiny.
Prof Syamsudin said this research itself had been carried out since 2019-2021 through funding from the National Innovation System Research Incentive Program (INSINAS) which raised antidiabetic drugs from polyherbal extracts, consisting of yakon leaf extract, bay leaf extract, stevia leaf extract and leaf extract tea.
"Onodiab's capsule innovation product is the result of a research collaboration developed by researchers at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Pancasila University and industrial partner PT Natura Nuswantara Nirmala (Nucleus Farma) as the business world and the industrial world who will carry out downstream research activities so that they can be commercialized," he explained in press statement quoted, Thursday October 27, 2022.
Nucleus Farma is a leading local bio-tech company which is an innovative producer of natural medicines and health supplements by utilizing native Indonesian herbs to contribute to the world of health.

In addition to being the first herbal company to receive an FDA certificate, Nucleus Farma has also received an award from the Student Record and the Indonesian-World Achievement Institute (LEPRID) for the innovative products it had developed before Onodiab.
Onodiab is an innovative product that has produced 3 international publications and 1 patent and has been registered with Indonesian FDA, BPOM (Food and Drug Supervisory Agency) as an antidiabetic herbal medicine in Indonesia.
Taiwan Innotech Expo (TIE), is Asia's leading invention exhibition and competition. TIE is a platform for technology exchange and a platform produced by researchers, academia, industry, as well as the government, to spark public interest.
This event is held every year, and this year, more than 25 countries, 69 organizations and more than 600 technological innovations competed.
