JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian Ministry of Industry ensures that every food and beverage product produced by the domestic industry has followed the food standards that apply in Indonesia. Products that have penetrated the export market have also followed the standards of the export destination country.
This statement was made following the withdrawal of a number of instant noodle products from Wings Group Indonesia from the Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore markets.
"Of course, companies in exporting food abroad must know the regulations applied by the export destination countries, and meet the required quality and food safety standards," said the Director General of Agro-Industry at the Ministry of Industry, Putu Juli Ardika in Jakarta, Friday, October 21, 2022.
Putu stated, as a mitigation measure, the Ministry of Industry has also strengthened the Indonesia Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (INRASFF) working group of stakeholders.
The INRASFF working group stakeholders include BPOM (as the National Contact Point), the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Finance.
"INRASFF is a fast communication system to follow up notifications on problems with export and import products," said Putu.
In addition, Putu continued, it is necessary to develop a method for testing Ethylene Oxide residues in food products. Currently, in Indonesia, the testing of these residues can only be carried out by the BPOM laboratory.
Meanwhile, Director of Wings Group Indonesia Ricky Tjahjono said that the company has ensured that the Mi Sedaap production process does not use Ethylene Oxide.
The production of Mi Sedaap is also in accordance with the applicable food safety provisions, including the distribution permit from The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) and the ISO 22000 food safety management system so that it is safe for consumption.
