Indonesian Minister of Health Confirmed Positive for Covid-19

JAKARTADAILY.ID – Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, has been confirmed positive for Covid-19. He is currently self-isolating according to applicable health protocols.

Budi said that being open to the status of Covid-19 is a form of responsibility as a public official to stop the spread of transmission.

"It is our duty and responsibility to help break the chain of transmission by immediately carrying out a swab test and, if the test result is positive, immediately self-isolate," said Minister of Health Budi.

"Please pray that I can recover soon," continued Budi as quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Health, Monday, August 29, 2022.

Minister Budi will self-isolate until tested negative for Covid-19. During self isolation, he will continue to carry out activities as a public official virtually.

Furthermore, the parties who have interacted with the Minister Budi in recent times have also been given information. They were asked to immediately do a swab test and self-isolate.

Despite being infected with Covid-19, Budi's condition is currently relatively healthy thanks to vaccinations and boosters. Vaccination does not guarantee individuals are completely free from Covid-19, but to prevent severe symptoms of illness.

Budi is not the first public official to become a victim of Covid-19, but this is the first time that Minister of Health Budi has confirmed Covid-19 since taking office in December 2020.

Meanwhile, the spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia is currently relatively sloping. The government reported as many as 2,871 additional new positive cases of Corona on Monday, August 29, 2022. DKI Jakarta province reported the most cases, namely 1,216 positive cases.
