Get to Know: PSDI, Terawan Former Staff's New Doctor's Association

JAKARTADAILY.ID - The All-Indonesian Doctors Association or PDSI declared itself as one of the pioneer organizations of Indonesian medical reform on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

PDSI was established after obtaining a decree from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights with the number AHU-003638.AH.01.07.2022 concerning the Ratification of the Establishment of the All-Indonesian Doctors Association.

This declaration was read by the General Chairperson of PDSI, Brigadier General (Ret.) Jajang Edy Prayitno, a former special staff of Dr. Terawan.

"PDSI's vision is to become a pioneer of Indonesian medical reform that upholds equality and has an Indonesian perspective for the world in order to improve people's health levels," said Jajang at a press conference held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

The mission of the establishment of PDSI is to protect doctors by synergizing with the people and the government by forming professional organizations, improving the health of the Indonesian people and the welfare of its members, as well as encouraging innovation for the nation's children in the health sector with an Indonesian perspective for the world.

"In conclusion, we stand apart from the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI). We already have legal provisions from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, so we are officially recognized by the government. We are under the Indonesian Medical Council," said Jajang.

PDSI is committed to contributing to the world of health in general and the world of medicine in particular.

The medical profession is aimed at advancing the level of public health, not just a doctor's business.

PDSI upholds the authority of the Indonesian Medical Council (KKI) as the state's representative in administering the certification of continuing medical education, as well as matters related to education and development of medical practice.

Regarding the DSA (Digital Subtraction Angiography) research, as the Head of PDSI, Jajang said that it would be accommodated and facilitated by the organization.

"He [Dr. Terawan] has opened the door to innovation. Innovation is [done] gradually and continuously. So it doesn't immediately become perfect," he said.

"PDSI will facilitate [the] research. We welcome anyone who wants to research, complete, and perfect Dr. Terawan's research so that DSA can become the gold standard of therapy for stroke, for example, or others," he continued.

The development of the Nusantara vaccine, according to Jajang, will also be facilitated, as the vaccine is a local product of Indonesia.

Not only research conducted by Dr. Terawan, PDSI will also facilitate other researchers who wish to contribute to the medical world.
