JAKARTADAILY.ID - Bandung Regency has been chosen as the location for the One Million Vaccine West Java (Sejuta Vaksin Jabar) pilot project.

The regency's secretary Cakra Amiyana said in a statement that by holding the pilot project, the vaccination achievement in the area would secondarily increase.

"Based on data from the Health Department, Bandung Regency's vaccine has reached 2,526,777 people or 90.40 percent of the total vaccine target, which is 2,795,219 people," said Amiyana.

Meanwhile, 1,848,563 or 66.12 percent of people have taken the second dose, and about 67,370 or 2.41 percent have received the third dose or booster.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Bandung Regency has reached 36,609, with 33,925 recoveries, 2,071 active cases, and 613 dead.

Amiyana hoped that the West Java provincial government's program would decrease the number of COVID-19 cases in the regency.

"Therefore, the chain of COVID-19 transmission in Bandung Regency will be broken," said Amiyana.

As the area with the second-highest population in West Java, he said the distribution of vaccines to Bandung Regency could flow more smoothly.

"Just like the Bogor Regency, which has the highest population in West Java as well as the buffer of Bodebek (Bogor-Depok-Bekasi). The provincial government should also prioritize Bandung Regency, which is part of the Greater Bandung metropolitan area," he said.

Bandung Regency is targeting 3,000 people to participate in the program, 1,500 of which will be the state civil apparatuses of the regency.
