JAKARTADAILY.ID - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil has expressed concern and empathy on the spike of COVID 19 cases in the Persib football squad. Around 17 players or officials have been exposed to the virus and the report keeps rising. The spike even resulted in the delay of the continuation of the BRI League 1 PSM vs. Persib match since the Bandung club did not meet the minimum player requirement to compete.
Kamil hoped the people to learn from the situation. “This is a lesson for all of us, the health protocol is important [to follow], not only on the match but also outside of it,” the governor said as quoted by Pikiran-Rakyat.com from Antara.
He further said after-match activities of players and officials are the team’s responsibility. He personally sympathized and prayed for the infected Persib players to recover.
“It must have disappointed everybody,” RK added. “Since the only sport uniting us is football especially when Persib, the pride of Bobotoh in all the world, are looking forward to it.”
Kamil also hoped for Persib Bobotoh to keep calm in responding to the delay of yesterday’s league since health is more important. He is still optimistic the “Blue Prince”, which shows a positive trend lately, has the potential to win.
The former mayor of Bandung also stressed the people to keep the discipline on implementing health protocol while going on activities.
“Take care of mental health as well. Look for sources of happiness in the middle of a situation which made a lot of unhappiness,” Kamil continued. “Some of them is family, or following humorous accounts [on social media] to increase our immune,”
From this case, the people need to realize the COVID-19 pandemic is not yet done completely. Following the health protocol anywhere is a must. And just as the Governor said, taking care of mental health is equally important.
