COVID-19 Update: Omicron Indonesia Case Reaches 68 People

JAKARTADAILY.ID --- Positive cases of COVID-19 affected by the Omicron variant in Indonesia continue to grow. Data on Wednesday (December 29, 2021) shows the number of additional cases has reached 21 people, so that currently there are 68 positive cases.

Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Vaccination of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said the 21 new cases were foreign travelers consisting of 16 Indonesian citizens (WNI) and 5 foreign nationals (WNA). The most visited countries are Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. Until now, most of the Omicron cases in Indonesia are from foreign travelers.

"The Omicron case in Indonesia is due to travel from several countries such as Saudi Arabia and Turkey, so people are advised to consider vacationing there," said Nadia.

Land and sea are more risky

Tightening at the entrance to the country's borders continues, especially at sea and land borders. The positivity rate at sea and land entrances is 10 times higher than in the air.

Nadia appealed to the public to reduce mobility and remain disciplined in implementing health protocols. “Self-awareness and restraining the urge to travel must be done. I ask the public to work together to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus by refraining from traveling," he said.

Previously, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia announced that the number of Omicron cases had reached 47 cases, of which 46 cases came from imported cases, and 1 case was the first Omicron case that became a local transmission. (*)

Update COVID – 19: Kasus Omicron Indonesia Capai 68 Orang

Kasus positif COVID-19 yang terkena varian Omicron di Indonesia terus bertambah. Data pada Rabu (29 Desember 2021) menunjukkan jumlah penambahan kasusnya sudah mencapai 21 orang, sehingga sampai saat ini jumlah kasus positif ada 68 orang.

Juru Bicara Vaksinasi COVID-19 Kementerian Kesehatan Siti Nadia Tarmidzi menyebutkan, 21 kasus baru itu merupakan pelaku perjalanan luar negeri yang terdiri atas 16 warga negara Indonesia (WNI), dan 5 warga negara asing (WNA). Negara kedatangan paling banyak adalah Arab Saudi, dan Turki. Sampai saat ini kasus Omicron di Indonesia kebanyakan dari pelaku perjalanan luar negeri.

“Adanya kasus Omicron Indonesia karena adanya perjalanan dari beberapa negara seperti Arab Saudi dan Turki, sehingga masyarakat diimbau untuk mempertimbangkan berlibur ke sana,” tegas Nadia.
